I posted a temporary sink stand a few weeks ago, here's the proper one. 
The slate slabs were capstones on a big wall. Still need to plumb the waste in properly (Leaky flexy tube at the moment) and level the sink, the frame it's on is level but water pools at the back of it. I've got some spare tiles I might stick up as a splash back, and a 16 amp socket to wire in out there too.

The apprentice finally had another go on her little 7”x 12” lathe today. I wanted make a little brass gun oiler, so turned all the parts down, and made the knurled cap, complete with groove for the O ring. Totally mucked up the size of the threaded end of the cap (1mm ish too narrow), consequently, there is only the ghost of a thread there. Still coming to grips with threading hole sizes, so any advice would be appreciated.
But, although it’s a bit of a fail, pleased to say that all the parting was done on the lathe (without any crashing), but the knurling tool I have really pushes the little lathe to its limits, if not carefully set up.
I still need to do some finishing, especially with the oil stick bit, as I felt I was pushing things a bit on the lathe trying to get the shape I wanted (I chickened out), but I will file that by hand. I was also trying to get a ‘brushed’ look on the case itself, but it just looks as if I didn’t do a finishing pass.
Never mind, you only learn by doing.

Big smiles this afternoon. I have just finished wiring the turrets prox switches, the encoder plug and the power plug and gave it a quick tune. Had to reconfigure the index counts in the servo drive as well but so far it seems to be behaving and best of all I seem to be fine with the small servo drive.
I still need to do some fine tuning to smooth out the stopping but it looks like it will be usable once I get a new cover made.

The sink may have a slope in it, even though your timberwork is spot on.
Really high quality sinks don't move much during firing, but cost a shed load. Most that I have dealt with have all measurements marked as +_ 2% to cover movement.
p.s Looks good. Wish I had the space to do that.

Got a PTFE job coming up. Always a pain with a hydraulic chuck,even when it’s turned right down. Extended length jaws should spread the load a bit better. Rough milled a set and welded onto an old set of soft jaws,ready for a skim in the lathe tomorrow

I even hid from the Original Norbert.
Cobblers Hammer.
Brought as a experiment for chemical blacking. I knew it was rough.
Yes a crack, investigation showed the head had in fact split in twain. But as it's future was not to be a hammer, this was ok.
So I brazed it up.
Why not? I had time and it was a good chance to practise.
Head cleaned and dressed, the welded repair is a good one, shinny and clean, just pitted.
Re-shafted, double wedged head and blackened.
500g axe head.
Again brought for an experiment, not just chemical blacking.
The head was burred over at the end, the hole was deformed and the cutting edge preening over.
A friend from Norway suggested an idea to bring it back to life.
You de-bur it, re shape it and get it back to axe shape.
Then using a hard wood, but green hard wood you make a fire and bury the head into it.
The green wood take a bit of time to dry out and get to temperature, by then it is a good ember base and the axe head is red hot.
You leave it in the fire over night, in the charcoal rich ember bed and in the morning you remove it.
It made a big difference to the head, the colour of the sparks and how hard the metal had become. It did take an edge, but I had to take my time with w oil stone.
New shaft, single wooden wedge, but a 2 pack glue system to fill the voids. I did not really get the head shaped up correctly. But the 2 pack should fill the gaps and make it good.
Very light weight, can't see it being used very much.
Unless Mini Me takes it to remove her versions of Norbert's.

A fun rebuild.
The mantle was intact, but cracked glass, major leaks a bent glass holder.
Order spares, service kits and good second hand parts.
The shinny surfaces you see is from paraffin leaking, to the left a damp patch. That's the leak from the tank.
New seals, everywhere. metal frame bent back into shape. It holds the glass into place.
Resealed and take leak soldered up. But Mantle issues. I have posted about that.

New mantles failing.
Thanks to Chris and his help it is all sorted.
All done and waiting to be fired up.
I have said to Mini Me I will wait until later when we are both home.
The cage took a good clean up and is now sealed with a clear coat rattle ca. Yes I blackened the vaporiser.
Why not?
Not fully blackened, But a semi finish.
Over the day the black has turned to a light grey, it kind of suits it.

Today I made this, don't know why and don't particularly like it but I made it.
Detent ring for speed regulator on an old Bollinder stationary engine. Made a full fuel pump and pump assembly a few months back for the same guy. Going into a lunchbox of vinger vapor now it will look 100 yeas old in the morning.
the back is....the rest is made from scaffold boards
