Not the best of shots, but just made this shelf for the gear locker on my trailer.




Made it with freestanding brackets on the ends because the locker is made from thin stainless steel sheet, and there's no way I'm getting down on my knees to drill it for brackets . Hopefully get it fitted in tomorrow and be back to having a tidy and organised locker .

I got bored of waiting for either 12mm or 20mm straight shell mill arbours to become available again at Bang Good or Ebay and I sure was not going to order one with no indication of when it would turn up so...

I knocked one up, I would not like to spin it up at high speed on a proper mill but it will probably cope with the speed available to me and my set up's limited rigidity.

I know it is the arbour you made but regarding the face mill, if you are ever going to get another I highly recommend waiting until Cutwell have the offers on for the Korloy Richmill inserts and the free Smox body when you buy so many inserts.
I bought 20 inserts for £108 plus VAT and got a 63mm facemill body free. It was to replace a Sandvik facemill I had but inserts were proving expensive so I decided to try these seeing as they were on special. The inserts are very sturdy and have 4 edges so quite economical as well. The finish I get on all materials is superb, I have used so far on Steel (High alloyed and hardened included), stainless, Bronze and Aluminium.

Finished this..

20ft x 12ft workshop, now has a solid roof and space for a 5ft x 12ft veranda at the gable end.

Still a bit of tidying up to do on the outside namely some fascia boards, guttering and replacing a couple of lengths of shiplap. But, I can stand on the roof and it doesn’t flex now.

Installed the lights and re-routed the power today, then tidied up the old roof ready for repurposing or burning. Inside looks like a bomb has hit it, tools are all over the place, but it’s water tight!

Back to work tomorrow, some much for a weeks holiday

Yesterday, Heath reminded me that one of my Banggood hole cutters might be a close fit for the tiny clock movement(s), so I drilled a hole in a piece of scrap to check




What'd ya know? He was right! So into the lathe [managed in the 4-jaw this time for some reason ] and turned out the bore enough to accommodate the movement.





And, yes - I know the oilers are nearly empty but they've been refilled again.
Another bit of turning done on one today, and the last of this size is nearly set up in the chuck ready to finish tomorrow.

Beats watching telly.......

Nothing really made, but did some modelling been after a hand sander with dust extraction did a test print with very coarse settings and it behaved well



Then onto the clamshell started as one body offset the plane and split it.
Project the inner Lips couple of extrusions jobs done I'll let it print tomorrow





I think total time on fusion was about 40mins, i really it like far simpler and more efficient than other cad systems.

It looked good. But some one had waxed it with a modern wax. So it was seized.



It was taped free and spent 12 hours in a Meth's. Vapour tank. This allowed the modern wax and dirt to fall away.

It works by the meth's realising vapour, that will rise up in the tank and settle on the item to be cleaned. It then condenses into a liquid. As it flows down it takes the muck, wax and dirt with it.
In that image it has just been stained with coffee and bee's wax. To give it an even finish.



Re-assembled.
The 2 dark holes LHS rear and the fluid holes.

I had to make a tool to allow me to clean out the internal bore. You could smell the beer and old yeast as I did.
The "T" for the tap is new. The old one had split.
So a old Box wood file handle was turned down to replace it

The finish was furniture oil, darkened with a well know Irish Stout.

The brass fittings are of to be recycled.

But, the fuse lives on, in the new plug.

One of the original crappy handles on my workmate lost one of it's tangs years ago, so many times it's came out whilst I've been trying to clamp something down,....finally got around to making ones to fit a man's sized hands too.

Made a few of these 3 mill ran out of plate
