Looks very impressive, i was talking to someone a few weeks back who was considering upgrading to one as they had seen one in action.

It seems decent although I have issues with stainless, not sure if it is me or the machine, I suspect the former.

Dived down the scrap bin and welded a few bits together to mount my grinder/polishing machine on a Dack & Blecker Workmate with an overhang for polishing a pair of alloy rocker covers.

Couldn't do the whole lot from the scrap bin, no 3mm sheet offcuts big enough so had to use a new bit. Drilled the mounting holes through the plate and both sides of the box section.

Opened the holes on the reverse side of the box out with a step drill to get a socket in, carried on through the step drill sizes to debur the reverse side of the other hole!

Bar clamps in the Workmate.

Ratchet strap to one of my ground ancors for the tyre machine.

Bit of chain welded to a bolt.

Offending articles, porous castings and not great alloy so finish isn't great.

Did lots today but was that harassed by evil customers I never got a chance to take any pics until after 5pm when I started on machining a pin for a power block head.
The pin was 65mm OD and about 300mm long but the arm that the power block was to be fitting to was only 55mm dia so I had to turn down 115mm of the pin to 50mm for a thread and then the next 100mm to 55mm to go through the arm. The thread was 50mm x 3mm pitch, I then had to make a nut. The nut was just a round bar bored and threaded then milled with a flat either side but this pic is before I put the flats on.

I took a quick video of the internal threading but just started filming after a few passes had been done, anyway here is the vid.

A case for my phone. I tried to colour the edges of the leather using a black permanent marker, but the ink bled into the front and back covers a little. At least the phone fits the case. (Phone not shown as that's what I took the photo with)

Not just today but just finished it at 6:45 today and boat is now sailing back to Amble.

Cut out combing of hatch and raised the aft side up 75mm so that it sat level rather than following the line of the shelter deck. Made new hinges and extended the threads on the locking dogs. Cut off roller and moved it forward 200mm so that the leg of the lifting frame could be welded on the top of it. Cut off the other 3 legs of the frame and welded in longer sections. Cut the handrails and stanchions that were getting in the road of the cod end being lifted in and welded angled sections in to meet with the lifting frame, welded a sloped edge on the side between the hatch edge and the edge of the shelter so that the cod end gets and easier life when being lifted aboard.
Knackered but happy, especially with the performance of the EWM Phoenix and also they are great guys to work for so didn't mind working extra hours in the evenings to get them back as soon as possible, put a conveyor on their previous boat 20+ years ago. The only thing I wasn't keen on was the torrential downpours that we had today

Not that phenomenal, took me quite a few days to do that and worked an extra couple of hours in the evenings as well Taking pics only takes seconds, just forgot to take a few more this time.

Nice work @Hood , but also sad that they had to bring it to you, when not so many years ago Amble had a boat yard who built top class fishing boats, as did many harbours. Now they do little more than antifoul yachts.

Started to tidy up a bit of our kit by making it blue , put a footbar on my stake knocker to stop said stake rotating.

Nice work @Hood , but also sad that they had to bring it to you, when not so many years ago Amble had a boat yard who built top class fishing boats, as did many harbours. Now they do little more than antifoul yachts.

They don't specifically bring it to me, they come up here every year to put it on the slipway and get it painted and any repairs needed, done, they do most of the painting themselves.
They have been doing that for 20 years plus. They have in that time missed a year or two by going other places but they prefer coming here for various reasons.

Regarding the Alu, they get a lot of that done around their home port and looking at the welds the welder they use is good, think he is Latvian. If they have Alu welding to be done when they are coming up for their slipping then they get me to do it.

Today I acquired a Colchester student lathe. Had to take it apart in three sections to transport it. Now finally got it round the back of my place. What an absolute tosser to move. But it's here. And got loads of goodies with it.

Alnmaritec are around there, were just north in Alnwick, when I had dealings with them for an FPSo work boat, now down the coast in Blyth. There isnt really a slip way in Amble now, not in the traditional sense, just a big travel hoist.

They were at Eyemouth the last time they didn't come to Arbroath, think that may also be where the Alu welder guy is.
