I acquired a bit of scaffold tube, its just right length not to be a pain in the back of the van, its long enough to use one handed, and long enough to get enough of a swing on a stubborn bolt or lift the frame of a fan or pump.. Those in the "know" will know what a valuable asset this is... I am sad to say that it isn't as good as the farther inlaws thick wall, ali tube. But it was free...

Yup, of all the tools I have I reckon a 3/4 t bar, 3/4 to 1/2 reducer and my favorite piece of scaff tube are £ for £ the most cost effective bits I use, and the scaff tube was out of someones skip I just asked if I could have it, only polite to really, wouldnt be with out it, I also have a piece of heavy walled galvanised tube that only just fits over said T bar, only about 15" long, but again makes a perfect extension for the bar. bet snap on dont make tubes like it ! ha. well not at my prices...Arther

B.spark yes I agree Wanner are the ....for grease guns, I had one untill some one who wanted a five finger discount took a shine to it.now got a cheap piece of s....e , at least it wont get purloined. Arther

thats just a random google search so it might be cheaper else where but its about the price of them.
they arent a cheap gun, but i have a couple of them here and its about the best gun ive came across, id have the best end of a dozen other brands that didnt come close.
its good for 690bar as well..

and while your at it, invest in one of these little fellows, they are the best invention since sliced bread bar none when it comes to couplers.

I can't bring myself to grease anything without these now!
However I do always have an adapter at hand to use it with an ordinary coupler for a small few nipples which require a thin coupler or a short one.
But it's one of the best £20 I ever spent, and it's already paid for itself because they don't wear or break like the ordinary ones when you get a buildup of pressure on a blocked joint.

There were three of those Wanner grease guns at the boot fair this morning. Two modern-looking ones and a slightly bigger older one with a nicely cast casing. I bought the old one for £2 it has the thickest flexi-tube I ever saw on a grease gun.

I had an x ray, and its just sprained, and the tendons battered. Run it under the tap and get back to work.

of all the grease nipples i have here, which is in the hundreds there is about a half dozen that it cant reach, mostly on some of the tighter pto shafts or drive shafts but it fits everything else i have.

for the ones it dosent fit what i done was, i got another flex and i mounted a nipple on one end and a straight coupler on the other end.
if the need arises i just clip it onto the g coupler and work away.

of all the std couplers ive tried none have actually lasted the long race, the mc naught one actually was about the best of them that i came across.
i wouldnt mind if you could flip the little rubber seal inside them but no, they made sure its a one trick pony.
and in fairness if they worked like the g one then they would last for an age but its the times you have a nipple that's not so fond of taking grease and to get it off when the pressure is on you twist it to one side (we all do it) you nip the rubber seal as you do on the top of the nipple and its all down hill after that.

the grease id use here would be enough money (mobil xhp222) and from what i see alone what ive saved in spilt grease has paid for the coupler a few times over.

they also have a high speed greaser that has a foot pump on it, i didnt study it but it looked like it took the smaller tubs of grease straight, seen it in a store one day.

i also have the pistol grip mc naught gun, i wouldnt recommend it personally as i find it hard to pump even tho i have shovels for hands and every time you pump it you dont seem to be getin as much as the lever type.
its rare its used here tbh so i keep a different type of grease in it that i dont use too often.
one of the things i like about the mc naught is the empty cartridge is easy to remove, it will come out when you pull the spring back and return it, a lot of the other guns i have youd be looking for the pen knife or the head of a nail.

as for the air ones, ive never liked them, you dont know if the nipple is taking grease or not i found but i have heard a right few singing the praises of the Lincoln battery powered versions, the top of the range one there will tell you how much its pumping iirc.

jesus lad it looks like you stepped in that hole a half dozen times, thats a bad touch, i see the std best impression of a balloon has set up stall.

the sprain is the killer, ive done similar years ago, a good 20 id say by now and an odd time it id still go over yet, i havnt let it go as far as another sprain but the fear of god would be in ya.
its one of the sorest doses ive had for days on end.
i think you know but ill say it anyways, the more rest you give it now the quicker it ill heal, if you aggravate it it ill give you prolonged pain, as much as i hated it i took it as easy as i could for as long as i could.
can you put it to the ground at all?
i couldnt touch the ground for about 5 days but i done mine about right when i did.

Yes that's about what I find regarding the ones it won't access, it's a few out of hundreds. I also have a piece of grease hose with a nipple and standard connector and also a rigid metal pipe version which turns tighter than a standard coupler on a flexible pipe.
But for propshafts I find the odd few where even standard connectors are too thick and for this I use a (new) old style gun which you fill by hand and with a narrow tube which goes to the nipple and pushes into the barrel when you pump. Just for the really awkward ones.

I don't have any pistol grip guns because they wouldn't work for most of what I do. Sure, one handed operation would be handy sometimes but they don't have the high pressure for the nipples which will take grease but need force to do so.

The Milwaukee cordless grease gun seems to be a brilliant piece of kit (from what I've researched, not got one myself).

I've thought about the Milwaukee one but although I do a lot of greasing it's nearly all at work where buying the tool will be spending my money for the sake of someone else's time. Bad idea. Also, although I'm sure it would be great but I don't really wish I had it when pumping mine. I did have a Sealey cordless one which was rubbish mind (a lot of years ago), I only got that for pumping up crawler tracks which I was doing a lot then and it can be hard work.

It took me years to get a good gun and it's an old draper where you can push the plunger up to expel air (an essential requirement if a grease gun is to be any use and avoid air locks, my biggest single issue with them). It's also got a swivel for the hose and a longer one and of course the G coupler and it's lovely to use.
I also have a new Bluepoint one which seems pretty reasonable but it gets very little use as it contains pin and bush grease which I don't use a lot of (only use it for myself, not work).

The grease I use is K2EP Longlife complex grease from Morris. It's the same as JCB blue grease and it's the only spec I will use these days (apart from pin and bush which is only suitable for that and not bearings). I spent ages looking at the specs compared with ordinary multipurpose grease and it lasts longer, copes with higher heat etc and doesn't go off like ordinary grease does. Brilliant stuff, and a nice red color from Morris!

On the subject of grease guns, can you still get the ones that clip over a big bucket of grease with a pump on top so you can pressurize it yourself? A friend is after one but he can only find ones that need an airline to pressurize them, no use when you're miles away from a compressor!

We used them for changing the grease on robots, last time I used one was about 4 years ago, but they should still be available as the same process is still used today.
