130kg round billet was the starting point. Bizarre to think I will be able to pick up the finished part with two fingers....That round billet was the smallest billet it would come out of

Unfortunately photos don’t appear in order. 130kg round billet was the starting point. Bizarre to think I will be able to pick up the finished part with two fingers....That round billet was the smallest billet it would come out of
Where do you get nice big lumps of steel like that?
Online prices are insane as they factor in "free" postage.
My local steel stockholders only tend to go up to about 35mm bar - all the rest is hollow section or plate etc.
It’s spuncast cast iron. Bought from United Cast Bar. Big lumps of steel I normally buy from Parkside steel.
Machines nice. Wouldn’t say easy. Quite abrasive to tooling, but that’s probably more to do with the rate I am removing it. Haven’t got time to go slowIs it nice and easy to machine?

I hope so too....I hope we're going to see the end product.
Continuous Cast if it’s from United castingNope. It’s spuncast. So it’s round to start off with. That’s the smallest lump it would come out of.
4 adjustable links for the dial guage. I did radius the ends after I got the pic and it took bloody ages!
