What I broke today...........

Way back in the early 70s I was working on a Fiat 600, a 4 cylinder ,water cooled , bigger version of the 500. Took the head off and found what looked like machined vertical grooves , one in each of the 4 cylinders . On removing the sump ,pistons and con rods one gudgeon pin circlip was missing, they had never been installed when the engine was built in the factory. It was reassembled with new circlips gaskets etc and was still running fine years later

Bent my favourite crow bar.


It straightened more easily than I expected, I suppose that means it's ******** now.

On the bright side, it looks like all this weightlifting is paying off.

Some weeks back at the first snow I ran the snow blower about 30m, auger belt broke.
Of course some bolts stuck needed to be drilled out.

Second snow, fuel line started to leak. Replaced and running fine.

Third snow, stopped running after a few minutes. Carburettor clogged.

Forth snow, today, broke the bloody start string at first pull...

Of course after all break downs I had to hand shovel so I haven't been running that cursed thing one complete run this season

Something is telling me there will be a post in the "today I aquired" soon...

I've had a good week, crashed starrett edge finder, snapped a Guhring carbide drill and a Hanita carbide end mill today trying to save a part that a centre drill snapped in

Broke my small Meddings Flott pillar drill yesterday, Well it ceased to function! sensor cable broke so new one made & fitted (4 tiny wires) soldered all the joins up to the pcb & reassembled, No joy still wont run. Scratching my head now, out with pcb today & see if there are any obvious bad joints.
If i cant fix it will have to out it.

Exactly that, get a bit of torque he’d on the bar and a block of timber on a piston and tap tap taparoo

In repeatedly moving a few pipes on the top of my engine to swap coil packs to try to narrow down a problem, I broke one end of a hard plastic pipe that's something to do with boost control. I pulled the broken end out, re-fitted it all and then shoved the remainder of the pipe in the rubber part for now, only to break the other end off. Tomorrow's job, then, is to make a new one out of 8mm copper pipe.

I just went into the workshop to make a puller. Turned on the Siemens VFD and it let the smoke out
I will take it in to work next week and see if I can fix it.......

It is a single phase one for the S&B. I have just walked away as I am a bit miffed. I will pull it off the wall and have a look tomorrow

Ok, can't help then I am afraid, only one I have is 3phase input.
