Looked at all no one seems to supply for an automatic not sure why....

Best thing to do here would be phone a main dealer and check price/ Stock and if they offer an exchange service. (Even Mercedes do for some models so worth asking)
Also get the part number your car requires.
Then use the part number to search for a replacement shaft.
Ok..I am back where I startedstripped it all down again and the fault (is me!!) is the CV joint has not gone in far enough to pass the circlip and the joint is just spinning around... So two hours later I can't get the joint to go in and I can't get the joint to come off...even with the new puller !! So I think I need to get the help of a mobile mechanic who should have a lot more experience than me .... swimbo says that's what I should have done in the first place!! (and she's right).
I did know of a trustworthy guy many years ago so I'll see if he's still working....
Thanks everyone for the tips and advice over this ...watch this space for, hopefully, an update .......
That's exactly what I've done once before, only difference was i managed to knock it back on with no damage caused.

Took me 3 months to fix the abs on my Volvo...gearbox took me a month to sort. Along the way I had to ignore many nay sayers telling me I couldn't do it!Same here.
I might have to have a drink, sleep on it but I always go back for more
In my experience there is always a way if you have a cuppa and a good think.

I would have asked Brian (alias roofman) but he is recovering from a nasty fall from a roof ... I'm trying to find a guy from a few years ago who I would trust not to rip me off but no luck so far... if I could buy a complete drive shaft I would but can't find anyone selling for an automatic .. if any one is nearby I'm happy to pay for any help with this..it's doing my head in... thanks Gerry

There used to be a place in rochdale that specialised in secondhand mazda parts, bit pricier than other places but know their stuff. A quick google and they are still trading.Might be worth giving them a calla s I'm sure they have more stuff on the shelf than on their website.

Morning campers ..after a restless sleep I'm back on the case. I've done CV's in the past without a problem. In theory the old joint should have come off with a few taps ...as it was, not only did I have to slice the thing almost in half but the 'spider' (see pic) was so tight on the splines that I had to cut it in half and use a hammer and chisel to get it off ... this is unusual!! The the new CV (I've checked and it is the correct item for 2015 mazda 2 automatic) should have gone on with a good 'tap' to get over the circlip and then slide on up ...no way I have even tried the puller as a 'pusher' and now it's jammed on solid
My little Makita DTW190 impact wrench can't get off ...so my only chance is a complete driveshaft. I will check tomorrow with Mazda how much a new one will be and also ring a couple of the places you guys have kindly searched and posted on here. I'll get back tomorrow with my findings ...........
