safe enough if you do it outside and wear gloves as turning the tap on and off and unscrewing the bottle it freezes a bit
and you have had your legs slapped for talking about it in the pastsafe enough if you do it outside and wear gloves as turning the tap on and off and unscrewing the bottle it freezes a bit
Indeed, no less safe than messing around with 240V motors and drives..Fiar enough not to talk about refills on bottles that are on "rental" as you agreed not to refill them when you signed the rental agreement.
But, you can buy outright refillable bottles that you 100% own and are perfectly entitled to refill yourself from garage lpg pumps or whatever.
Those little blowtorch size cylinders are also purchased outright so are also yours to refill if you want to. The "do not refill" lable on those has no more legal power than a "not for individual sale" lable on a bag from a multipack of crisps
????well like the post above saying its safe to do outside, part of the filling which relates to safety has been missed, and you cant assume that people will know the important but that you've missed out. Also it has been advised on this forum that you can use schrader valves (car tyre valves) to bypass valves on bottles, but the vast majority of them are not rated for the pressures that propane can exert.
????
I refill the common 1 lb bottles from my 20 lb bottle with no problems nor modifications.
Yes, but he mentioned modding the bottle, my way (and I think your way) does not mod the bottle.Fred, @optima21 is merely pointing out that from the forums point of view it cant be condoned in case something goes wrong. Make something idiot proof and they evolve into better idiots

We need a proper how-to guide. Someone mentioned its important to weigh the bottles and only fill 80%?
On the ones I refill, there is a dip tube set at 80%We need a proper how-to guide. Someone mentioned its important to weigh the bottles and only fill 80%?

That would be the 80% rule then.Only people who can explain what ullage is should be filling bottles.
Just remember people who have been doing this for years are still coming a cropper.

Its a bit more complex than that as many other safety items need to be considered. That would be the 80% rule then.
